Fellow ward members and friends,
We are living in interesting times. Events are occurring that haven’t happened in most of our life times. While these events are disconcerting, we can take precautions to keep ourselves safe and also care for our neighbors. The prophet has given us direction to not meet as a ward family for a while. This direction comes as a preventative measure. The key is prevention. This is not a reactionary response from the prophet. This response is to avoid a crisis in the future. By staying home, we can enjoy the blessings of following our prophet, learning the gospel and increasing in favor with God as a family unit.
Brothers and sisters, please take advantage of this time to teach, share and grow as a family. We have recently been taught how and why we study the gospel at home. Blessings will follow.
To allow members to partake of the sacrament, I am temporarily authorizing worthy brethren who hold the melchizedek priesthood and aaronic priesthood holders who have been ordained priests, who are members of the Riverdale 7th ward, to provide the sacrament to their families in their home. This should be done at least once a month but not more than once a week.
Additionally, ministering brethren of the Riverdale 7th ward should reach out to families without priesthood in the home to administer the sacrament. Brethren be safe and keep those to whom you minister safe. Avoid direct contact with each other. Use doorways and entryways for the sacrament.
This is the time to share your power in the priesthood. This is the time to bless others. This is the time to receive the blessings of priesthood service.
I will be meeting with President DeYoung on Sunday with all of the bishops of the Riverdale stake. At that time, any new information will be communicated.
Please do not rely on hearsay or what has been communicated in other stakes. President DeYoung has the keys for our stake. He will lead us in our path.
Stay safe and fill your hearts with faith.
Bishop Knight
