Relief Society message & thoughts from Michelle Voigt
As you reread or listen to this talk Think of President Nelson’s response to the children’s question of “Is it hard to be a prophet” and how it might relate to you. Also, ponder how we can draw principles of truth from the Prophet Joseph’s experiences that provide insights for receiving our own revelation.
I quite often find myself taking the easy or quickest path wanting to get to the end of the experience, So I especially loved being reminded by the prophet that good things are hard to do. They take effort, lots of hard work, lots of study and there is never an end. He tells us, if we are striving to follow the Lord it is good there is no end because that means we are always progressing, always climbing, always learning and will be even in the next life.
Sister Jones looks at the principals of truth we learn from the Prophet Joseph Smith and the First Vision that can help us receive our own revelations. She points out the work, scripture studying, faith, pleading and desires we need. I especially liked the wording of this insight from her. “We focus on His light guiding our life choices and resting upon us when we turn to Him”, This thought prompts me I need to focus more on His guiding light helping me in all I do.
Another important truth Sister Jones points out about the First vision, and one that brings peace to me each time I reread Joseph Smiths’ account, is knowing that God knows each of us by name and He cares about us. This truth helps me know we have a divine potential and eternal worth.
Sister Jones reminds us that God cares about us and each of us can receive revelation from Him. As we receive our own guidance from the Spirt, we will know what we need to personally work on today so we can continually learn and grow closer the God and live with him again.
We as a Relief Society Presidency love and miss seeing you all. We hope all of you are doing well during this virus pandemic and trying to find some good in the crazy. Stay healthy and safe. We love you and are here to help you. Happy Mother’s Day!
